We surrvived and are possibly contemplating doing it again soon. Not that it wasn't painful at times, especially with a 21 month old who sucks her thumb without ever washing it and thinks she's as big as her sister. But, they loved it. To be outside on the beach and in the woods for 48 hrs was pure heaven to them. Think lots of dirt, sand, squealing, barking (thanks to Jax), and laughter. We enjoyed the company of great friends which made it for the adults but when it came time to get the kiddies to bed I was ready to pack it in. The thing is with a tent...you can hear everything. The kids can, the neighbors can.... So when Zaiah began to have a fit about going to bed because she was so over tired, everyone new about it. I know that everyone within our surrounding area was thinking "What idiot is taking their baby camping for the first time and why can't they shut her up". But who cares. That's the risk you take car-camping :) Both kids overnight continued to wake up throughout the night which in turn would wake the other up and so on. I swore through the night that I wouldn't be doing this again until zaiah was older. The funny thing is with the brain is that like child birth, you forget. By the end of the seccond day I had had so much fun being with my family and friends that I was forgeting how absolutely terrible I thought the night went. I will consider this my trial run and I was able to learn a few tricks that will help me the next time.
BTW, after camping, isn't that first shower you take just the best shower you've ever had??? :)

Ryan and I went backpacking in the Sequoia National Park last weekend. Five miles in. One night. It was awesome. And YES!! That first shower afterwards is the BEST!!
